Laura's Dad, Les, was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis over 10 years ago, even though they were told life expectancy was 5 years. Les lived well until late 2021 where he used mobile oxygen going out on walks, but by February/March 2022 he had to use home oxygen to help him around the house and even at rest. He was accepted on the lung transplant list in April 2022 but due to complications with a scan, it delayed his process from being on the active list.
Les Kennedy Unfortunately, in June 2022 he developed a blood clot which went into his lung (pulmonary embolism). After a short stay in the hospital, Les sadly lost his battle.
"Dad was a true warrior who fought so hard for many years, he was taken too soon at the young age of 59."
"We are raising vital funds and awareness to help people breathe easy, as every breath matters."
It's thanks to supporters, like Laura, who take on fundraising challenges in memory of a loved one, that we are able to continue our vital research that we hope one day will help stop pulmonary fibrosis in it's tracks. Could you do something amazing like Laura and her family? Whatever the challenge we are here to support you every step of the way. Please visit our Challenge page for further details.
