‘Business Case Toolkit’

October 01, 2024

APF empowers healthcare teams with a new ‘Business Case Toolkit’

APF is passionate about bringing together the PF community to transform care across the UK.  In a stretched NHS, we know ILD and respiratory teams do their absolute best to overcome the challenges they face in a system that is not meeting the rising needs of their patients. In addition, people living with PF tell us just how much they appreciate the dedication of the specialists responsible for their care, whilst acknowledging the lack of capacity in their services.

APF wants to help change this.  As part of our OneVoiceILD movement, together with independent healthcare consultant and former NHS commissioner Sue Thomas, we are very happy to launch our new Business Case Toolkit – a practical guide to writing an impactful business case to boost the ILD expertise in your team.

This toolkit provides a step-by-step guide on how to present your needs to your ICB to increase the likelihood of a successful bid.

Through boosting staffing and resourcing in non-specialist centres, we aim to address some of the challenges relating to wait times and unequal access to services, bringing ILD care closer to home - in line with published national care guidelines.

The Business Case toolkit is launched as part of the OneVoiceILD movement, which aims to bring together members of the PF community to improve PF care across the UK. This guidance is targeted towards centres that would fall into Tiers 1and 2 in the published National Integrated ILD Care Pathway. The document accompanies the Business Case Webinar hosted by APF and Sue Thomas in April – watch the recording.
