APF funded researcher wins prestigious award

December 19, 2025

‘I am very grateful to APF for their ongoing support, which is enabling me to further develop my research programme to find the causes of pulmonary fibrosis and look for new treatments.’

We’re delighted to congratulate Dr Jenny Dickens, an Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis (APF)-funded researcher and now Principal Investigator at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research, on being awarded the 2025 British Thoracic Society / Asthma + Lung UK Lecture Award. The award is given for outstanding achievements in the field of UK respiratory research.

Jenny also delivered a lecture at the recent British Thoracic Society Winter Meeting, which brings together professionals from around the world to share best practice, raise awareness of lung disease and promote respiratory health.

A real honour

Reflecting on her award, Jenny said:

It is a real honour to receive this award which recognises my work both in the lab and in the clinic aiming to better understand and treat those with inherited forms of pulmonary fibrosis. This award gives me an important platform at the British Thoracic Society meeting to raise awareness of these rare conditions and help develop a national network to standardise care. I am very grateful to APF for their ongoing support which is enabling me to further develop my research programme to find the causes of PF and look for new treatments.

Jenny’s achievement highlights what is possible when researchers, charities and the wider pulmonary fibrosis community work together to drive progress.
