The MTWC lecture series is primarily aimed at researchers and healthcare professionals, which means that elements of each lecture are likely to be very technical. However, interested members of the public are welcome to attend. Read on to find out more about what Dr Kerri Johannson will talk about during her MTWC lecture.
In this session, Dr. Kerri Johannson from the University of Calgary, Canada will talk about the relationships between inhaled environmental and occupational exposures and the development and progression of interstitial lung diseases (ILD).
Kerri will convey the importance of understanding how the environment affects people with ILD, to better understand how disease develops, and how to best protect those affected by the disease. She will also discuss the social determinants of health (e.g. poverty, access to care), as important factors affecting people with ILD.
Dr Kerri Johannson Biography
Dr. Kerri A. Johannson MD MPH FRCPC ATSF is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Community Health Sciences, and member of the Snyder Institute for Chronic Diseases at the University of Calgary, Calgary AB, Canada. She is Research Director for the Interstitial Lung Disease program and Director of the ILD post-graduate training program at the University of Calgary. Dr. Johannson’s research program is focused on understanding the relationships between inhalational exposures and ILDs, and how the environment and social determinants of health impact patient-related outcomes.
